Pakistan set to participate in Asian bodybuilding event

The Asian Championship is scheduled from May 26 to 28 in Thailand

Pakistan's 11-member team, under the umbrella of the Pakistan Bodybuilding Federation and Natural Bodybuilding Union International, is all set to participate in Amateur Asia Bodybuilding and World Powerlifting Championship. 

In a press conference in Karachi on Thursday, Pakistan team players and officials said the biggest-ever Pakistan team is going to participate in any international bodybuilding event. 

"It is the biggest-ever team that is going to participate in the event," said bodybuilder Rameez Ibrahim. 

"Alhamdulillah, our bodybuilders are prepared strongly. We are very hopeful for big victories in the event," he added. 

The Asian Championship is scheduled from May 26 to 28 in Thailand. The green team has already reached the host country for participation. Pakistani bodybuilders will participate in events of bodybuilding, classic physique, men's physique, and powerlifting. Pakistan team will also compete in Mr Asia and Jr Mr Asia. 

As many as 16 teams are participating in the event including Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Iran, and Afghanistan. 

Speaking to the media, Rameez further said that they don't have any financial support from the government. 

"We are going on self-finance. We don't have any support from the government or private sector," he lamented. 

"Bodybuilders need support from the government. Their support will help us compete strongly at the international level," he concluded.
